Latest Research

An M. Institute Research and Development project
With Steven Paige & Michael Donnelly

Engine Room
Exchange Gallery
Penzance

27 February – 8 March 2008

We have been researching the mechanics of artistic practice; how
this can be made visceral and real and how this shapes new work that
might be produced. We are inviting four different artists into the Gallery,
one each day, where we will be talking with them about their practice and making a visual map of the processes they use to make new works.

The street level window will be utilised by filling the gallery at night
with the results of our research, accessible to passers by playfully using
the forensic associations of ultra violet light to illuminate the way that artists think, plan and make work.

Expectancy Theory - November 2007

Steven Paige and Michael Donnelly working with M. Institute had 3 discussions, 1 hour each around the mechanics of collaboration. The discussion was open to an audience and finished with the results being mapped and drawn onto the walls of the space.

The work was part of Invigorate at the Exchange Gallery, Penzance.
